Description
Alpujarra Tour, an itinerary created for nature lovers and meditation in magical villages.
The Alpujarra of Granada has more than 80 villages distributed under the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada. Among vineyards, almond trees and terraces are built the most important regions, facing south to take advantage of the good Mediterranean climate.
Impregnate your palate with a varied gastronomy that includes everything from excellent honey, to a growing variety of good local wine, the well-known Alpujarra dishes, high quality trout and Moorish pastries.
These lands are a direct legacy of those subjects who settled their homes in a territory of impossible slopes and planted their fields with exotic fruit trees and mulberry plantations for the breeding of the silkworm, the basis for weaving fabrics, tapestries, shawls and scarves that were exported to Europe and the Middle East at that time.
Fancy a rural and nature tourism? Then get rid of all your expectations, just let yourself be surprised with a breath of fresh air and get to know a lifestyle and culture far away from the city.
We will make a full day excursion to the Alpujarras of Granada, one of the most beautiful places in the province of Granada. It was the last refuge of the Moors after the fall of the Nasrid Kingdom and a place of inspiration for many romantic poets.
Our route will take us along the coastal highway that will allow us to pass through beautiful villages that make up the Lecrin Valley, known in the Muslim era as the valley of joy, because due to the abundance of water made this place a real orchard.
Next, we will leave the coast road and we will enter the Alpujarras, object of our visit. The first village that we find is Lanjarón, with wide streets and a must stop for being internationally known for its healthy water springs.
Our mandatory visit to a wonderful triangle of villages, Soportújar, Pampaneira and Pitres, where we will enjoy a typical Alpujarra lunch and its narrow streets full of water and flowers, where everything keeps a perfect harmony thanks to its asymmetrical squares and terraced slate houses that have preserved to this day the architectural legacy of the passage of the Arabs through these lands.
Then we will continue ascending to Trevélez, known for being one of the highest villages of the peninsula, where we will have the opportunity to see a ham dryer and of course taste this exquisite product and on the way back we will visit a chocolate factory to taste the succulent varieties they have.
Knowing the history walking through its steep streets can be an excellent alternative to enjoy nature and a region where it really seems that time has stopped.
