Description
To get to know the Roman and Jewish Cordoba in a timeline that goes from Rome to Sepharad.
The Roman legacy in Cordoba, or what is the same, Roman Cordoba, was founded by General Claudius Marcellus between 169 B.C. and 152 B.C., and is located on a stretch of the Guadalquivir River where it ceases to be navigable and from the beginning was the capital of the province of Hispania Ulterior.
The Jewish heritage is palpable in the Jewish quarter, the best preserved in Europe. And its reference among the most prominent who were born and lived there is Maimonides s. XII, philosopher, physician, astronomer and rabbi from Cordoba, who is considered one of the greatest scholars of the Torah in medieval times.
Cordoba lived an era of splendor for centuries, for its people and cultural legacy and the coexistence of its different religions. Walking through its streets allows you to discover the beauty of a network of narrow streets, courtyards and squares that lead to its historic center, where you can find the essence of ancient Cordoba in its greatest splendor, making the city one of the most cultured and refined of the Middle Ages.
Cordoba goes far beyond its majestic Mosque or its enigmatic Medina Azahara… The Bridge, the Roman Temple and Theater, or the Alcazar of the Christian Kings and its gardens, former residence of the Roman governor, are a sample of the visit we will make and of the immersion in the Roman legacy of this land.
We will also stroll through the popular corners of the capital, its narrow streets and its famous courtyards decorated with flowers and bright colors, together with its peculiar neighborhoods such as the famous Jewish Quarter, where we will know its synagogue and its Sephardic museum of Jewish heritage.
Cordoba is always much more, therefore, we invite you to know its rich gastronomy in a typical Cordovan winery with a variety of products and recipes inherited from the legacy it possesses and that will envelop you in an amalgam of smells, flavors and sensations, which in the end will achieve only one goal: to excite you and make you enjoy the experience.
