Description
Western Andalusia: caliphs, discoverers and navigators on the Ziryab Tour.
Born in Baghdad, he arrived at the court of Abderraman II in Cordoba in the 8th century. He was a trendsetter in Al-Andalus, transforming the way of eating, serving the table and even the way of life at the time.
Ziryab brought and spread customs from Baghdad to Cordoba and started an aesthetic revolution. He proposed how to dress according to the season and created the world’s first beauty institute and the habit of bathing twice a day.
He revolutionised and established the order of the dishes of our gastronomy by introducing the spoon and the very fine crystal cut glasses. And above all, he was a musical genius, for he was the forerunner in adding a fifth string to the lute.
During this © Ziryab Tour and in different cities we will go hand in hand with our host in a timeline that will take us to know the arrival of the Muslims in Tarifa (Cadiz) in 711 and the beginning of the Umayyad and Caliphate splendour in Cordoba.
We will also enjoy Almoravid and Almohad Seville and the beginning of the Christian era with the discovery of the New World and the First Circumnavigation. We will also visit Huelva, ancient Taifa and port of departure to the Americas, and the legendary Cadiz, a reference point for Flamenco and seafood gastronomy.
